Easy and Affordable Home Makeovers

Easy and affordable home makeovers - www.angela-cruz.com

Now that we are into 2020, a lot of us want to do some major improvements in our lives, including improving our homes (*raising my hand over here*). If you’re like me, you also want to work on your finances, including saving more money, paying off debt, and making sure that we’re still enjoying our lives. So, how are you supposed to do home improvements while also saving money and paying off debt? My opinion is that you can do some easy and affordable home makeovers, and that will allow you to achieve all of your goals: improving your home improvement goals while also allowing yourself to save money and pay off debt.

I recently did a major overhaul on my home, which included cosmetic improvements that were quick, easy – and affordable! I am sharing a photo below of my loft, so you can see how some of these little steps can pay off with a big impact. So, on that note… here are a few ways that you can achieve your goal of improving your home, while on a budget

A New Rug

Rugs can be pricey, but you have two options: buy a lower quality rug for less money, which can save you money at first, or buy a high-quality rug for a larger sum of money upfront, but it can save you money over time. While it may be hard to splurge for a high-quality rug at first, I believe that it is worth it because it will save you quite a bit of money over a longer period of time, which is always great.

I bought this rug on Amazon.com – here is the link to purchase it!

The reason why I think that adding a new rug into your home is a great way to give your home a makeover is because a rug has the potential to change the way an entire room looks. Adding a colorful rug to a neutral room gives it an immediate pop of color, transforming it completely. Alternatively, if you have a very colorful room (maybe the walls, furniture, or artwork in the room), a neutral rug can be a great option. I myself chose a neutral rug because I plan to add very colorful artwork to the walls to complete this room makeover in my house. What you see pictured above is my loft, right when you walk upstairs in my home.

When it comes to choosing your rug, I love shopping at HomeGoods because you can find affordable options and most options are still very high-quality. If you really want to find an option that will last you for a very long time, I would recommend looking into a hand-loomed rug option, such as the ones from Willaby, which is a relatively popular blanket company that just started making hand-loomed rugs as well. These rugs are organic, hand loomed, and washable. They also look great, which is important.

Open Your Window Coverings

This is not technically a home makeover project, but doing something as simple as opening up your window coverings can dramatically change a home’s look and feel. If you have curtains, try tying them back or taking them off completely. Giving them a good wash while they are off is always a great thing to consider, as well. If you are getting tired of your current window coverings, maybe consider adding new ones. You could sew your own, updated curtains, or add your own plantation shutters (there are many websites to help you DIY the installation process). Changing and/or just opening your window coverings can dramatically change a home and room because of the light that it allows inside your home. Plus, more light is also great for Vitamin D consumption (which is essential for fighting off colds and flu bugs during the winter!) too. It’s a win-win!

Paint

Need an easy, quick fix to give your home a little pick me up? Try painting your rooms! Paint is an easy and relatively affordable way to transform a room, or multiple rooms within your home. In fact, it’s not just limited to the inside of your home either. You can transform the outside of your home, as well, but that may be more expensive since you will probably want to hire someone for that job. For the inside specifically, paint can totally transform your home and make it look like you had an entire home makeover. It can give your house a clean, fresh, and new feel, which is exactly what you want when doing a home makeover.

Faux Brick

If you want to do a DIY project to help with your home makeover, try looking into Faux Brick. Located in Clearwater, Florida, Faux Brickwork is the leader in the supply of faux brickwork to the domestic and commercial world. They supply faux brickwork to many luxury homes, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, offices, and retailers. My personal favorite way to use faux brickwork is in the kitchen as a backsplash. Look at how beautiful it appears!

I am literally so impressed!

The great thing about Faux Brickwork is the fact that it is affordable, customizable, and it’s really easy to install yourself. There is no need for timely or expensive building/brick work. Their Faux Brick Wall Panels will definitely meet your expectations when it comes to style, quality, and their authentic look. In addition, customer service is of the utmost importance to Faux Brickwork, so you know that you will be very satisfied once your DIY home makeover is completed.

If you redecorate your home – especially with neutral colors – it’s the perfect backdrop for you to take photos within your home. That’s one reason why I am so thrilled with my home redecoration! I used to only film in one part of my house, and now that I have really nice interior, I feel like I can film wherever I feel like it. Or if I take outfit photos inside my home, they will look great no matter where I take those photos! Sidebar: outfit goals shout-out to my friend @AprilGoLightly who has the cutest outfit photos with her daughter, and I always love it when she posts the “mommy and me matching outfits” blogs like this one. I always joke that it’s hilarious that I have a boy, because I am not into boy clothing, LOL! But I still take photos of my son around my house, so having a redecorated home is great for that, too!

Thanks for reading, as always!

~Angela~
