Creative holiday gift ideas for a new homeowner

Happy holidays! I bet you are up to your knees in checklists and wrapping paper right now. If you are planning to do a bit of last minute Christmas shopping, I’m here to help! Sometimes, I get stuck on a certain person and have no idea what to get them. If you have a friend that just purchased a home, I have THE ultimate list for you. Although these are great gifts for that new homeowner, they are also great gifts for most all people, as well.

Here are my top creative gift ideas for the new homeowner:

Cheese Board

Nothing says “I’ll be here all the time” like gifting your favorite new homeowner a cheese board. Not only will you likely benefit from it (hello charcuterie at parties), but it is also a very useful thing for new homeowners, who will likely be hosting more than usual, to have. Who doesn’t love a good cheese board?!

Key Holder

Now that your friend is settling down in his or her own place, it’s time to finally find a place for those keys too. A nice looking key holder can be the perfect way to say “Welcome to your new home!” It is useful for anyone, looks cute on the wall, and reduces stress. Yay for no more lost keys right when you need to leave!

Personalized Hand Towels

Does everyone have that one friend who has the monogrammed disposable hand towels in their guest bathroom that look so fancy, you’re not even sure if you should use them or not? Believe it or not, these fancy hand driers are perfectly priced to give as a gift, and are not something that new homeowners would usually buy for themselves. Adding a holder for the towels can make the perfect gift for anyone!

Welcome Mat

A welcome mat is a great way to literally say “welcome” to your new home. The best part about getting a welcome mat, other than it being a necessity to keep the floors in your friend’s new home clean, is that you can get creative while choosing one. There are SO many different options to choose from – you can get simple doormats, doormats with busy patterns, funny doormats – the list goes on and on!

Personalized Door Wreath

This could be holiday-themed, or it could be just a general, personalized door wreath with their initials on it. Either way, it is a great gift option for the new homeowner, a newly married couple, or that person down the street who has an old, dated door wreath. There are so many great options that you can find in-store, but my favorite way to personalize a door wreath is by purchasing on a website such as Etsy.

A Needed Service

Home buyer's roadmap

If you know of something that the new homeowner needs done to their home, that could be a great Christmas gift! Not sure where to start when it comes to finding a good contractor? Reach out to their real estate agent! For example, Erin with Jax Historic Realty, has put together a support team of contractors and other professionals who help transactions go smoothly. While this is an after the fact service, Erin will know who the best of the best is when it comes to that needed service, especially since he is familiar with the home that your friend purchased. In fact, Erin is a wealth of knowledge, in general, and is such a great real estate agent. If you or anyone you know is purchasing a new home anytime soon, he should be your go-to! Hey, can I put on my Christmas list that I would like an old homes for sale in Murray Hills!? I would love to fix one up for myself!

A Meal

This time of the year is busy for everyone. Sometimes, all someone needs is a meal – or time to cook a meal. If you know a new mom, a new homeowner, or someone that really just does not have time to do anything for themselves, a meal is always a fantastic gift idea. I know this is very out-of-the-box, but I can promise you that they will appreciate it.

No matter what you get your friend for Christmas, I am sure it will be such a great gift! Do you have any other gift ideas for the new homeowner? I would love to hear them! Have a great holiday season!
