“Sunset Beech,” a Family-Friendly Retreat in North Carolina’s High Country

Beech Mountain’s claim to fame is that it’s the highest incorporated town in the eastern United States. What I’ve discovered is that it’s also home to the best family-friendly vacation house, aptly named Sunset Beech!

Imagine rustic luxury, room for your entire clan, sweeping vistas and everything you need all in one spot.

It’s a DREAM HOME for a full family!

I had looked through the virtual tour online, so I had a good idea of how expansive it is… but nothing prepared me for the actual moment when I went inside the house in person. It blew me away!

Our family enjoyed an al fresco dinner in front of a roaring fire on the balcony

Ten of us stayed in the house comfortably. In fact, we still had a couple of empty rooms that we could have filled, since the house sleeps 18 people. It’s PERFECT for multi-generational travel. If you have several families that want to be all in one place, this is the house for you.

Could we just move in? I won’t lie, I wanted to stay forever! 🙂 Look at me pretending like this is our house…

We had all together my husband and me with our son, my sister and her husband and daughter and my husband’s brother, his wife and two sons. What a fabulous way to spend quality time together!

We had questions before we arrived, such as “Is there a coffee maker?” Looking back, I feel like we were a little silly about that – what vacation home these days would lack a coffee maker? In fact, Sunset Beech has a regular ground coffee maker AND a Keurig!

However, we weren’t prepared for the extreme level of amenities that this home contains.

This spacious property rests atop Beech Mountain. When you step outside on to the back patio, you’re afforded sweeping, long-range views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I won’t lie… we took some family photos there, LOL!

Sunset Beech is a three-level home boasting seven bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms. There are multiple jet bathtubs (sooo relaxing), a bottom-level den with a pool table, multiple stacked stone fireplaces, a gourmet kitchen, and a theater-style loft.

There were thoughtful details that made our stay even more comfortable, including:

*Hangers in the closets (why do so many AirBnB’s lack those?)

*Labels on every power switch so you know what’s the ceiling fan, what’s the overhead light, what’s the vanity light, etc.

*Kid-friendly details like Nintendo wii, stuffed animals, kids books and more

*Wood decor makes it feel more cozy

*Themed rooms

*Japanese heated toilet with fancy bidet and other buttons in the master bedroom

*Motion detectors floodlights outside

*Towel warmer in master bedroom

*First aid kit in the laundry room cabinet

*Cuddly blankets everywhere

*Children’s plates and cups and silverware in addition to adult stuff in the kitchen

Family and friends will enjoy the options for sleeping arrangements with a generous king master suite on the main level with deck access, TV, and a private bathroom. Also on the main level is a bright kids’ room with a full bed and an anteroom with a twin-over-full bunk, a trundle below, and a full-size futon. The upper level includes a queen bedroom, a fun kids camping room with two twin beds, and a sleeping nook with a full-size bed. Downstairs is a queen suite with a TV, a private bathroom, and deck access. A second downstairs room has a king bed with access to the hall bathroom, a TV, and deck access.

Other amenities include a washer/dryer, a fully equipped kitchen, tons of televisions and even games and books for children.

The house lives up to its name because the sunsets are astounding. There is actually a nearby public park called “Sunset Park” that gives the public the exact same views that you get just looking out of the windows from the Sunset Beech home.

If you like deer, keep your eyes out because they literally walk alongside the house every day. They’re beautiful and I enjoyed seeing the wildlife so fearless!

Not the best photo of Bambi but there really were a lot of deer…

Our favorite evening activity was lighting a fire in one of the many spots (outdoors or indoors! Choose which one!) and making homemade s’mores for the kids. That was sooo heartwarming for me.

In summary, if you’re looking for the perfect family getaway spot, look no further than Sunset Beech on beautiful Beech Mountain in North Carolina. Book your stay there today – you and everyone else will be so glad y’all did!

See y’all in the mountains!
